In the Rain - Rewrite I slip in the mud, trying to stand up. I need to escape this place; the smell of the bodies is overwhelming and its making me weak. I try not to look into their faces as I run, try not to see how many of them I knew. I have to focus on running, on getting away, on being anywhere but in this place. The cold is getting to me, rain soaking my uniform as I run past the fallen bodies. I couldn’t look to see if any were alive; I couldn’t look because they might be looking back at me.
